Thane: In a shocking turn of events, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) leader Kunal Bhoir has been booked by the local police for his involvement in a
Remdesivir black marketing case, which he had allegedly 'exposed' in the first place.
A few days ago, Bhoir, along with other MNS party workers claimed to have exposed a racket in the Guardian Dental College in Ambernath wherein Remdesivir injections were being sold illegally at a higher price. Their claims were even supported by ambulance driver Kunal Bhandari who had gone on record to say that he was supplied the injections by the hospital administration itself to be sold in the black market.
However, the Ambernath police have now unearthed a new twist in the tale. According to senior police inspector Sanjay Dhumal, it has been found out that Bhoir and his associates Balkrishna Godse, Nandkumar Sakat and Dilip Sahasrabuddhe forced Bhandari into peddling lies about the hospital administration and also assaulted him.
"The injections initially belonged to a doctor who was using them to treat his father who had contracted COVID-19. However, when the latter passed away, the doctor returned the remaining two injections so that they can be used by someone else who needed them.
However, one Vishakha Gaikwad, who works in the Dental College as a nurse, got her hands on them and sold them to Bhandari, who then planned to sell them for almost double their price," Dhumal said.
"But when Bhoir and his allies got to know of it, he blackmailed Bhandari into stating that the hospital administration was involved in the racket, thus tarnishing the image of the frontline workers. The MNS workers even assaulted the driver and demanded a ransom of Rs 2 lakh from him," he added.
A case has been registered against Gaikwad and Bhandari, as well as against MNS leader Bhoir and his accomplices under various sections of the Indian Penal Code. A probe into the matter is underway.
